Primary 5 Road Safety Poster Competition organised by Newry, Mourne and Down Road Safety Committee.
The committee launched their annual road safety Primary 5 poster competition in all the schools across the district. 12 winning posters were chosen at the end of October and the winners received a prize of a framed print of their picture and a £10 gift voucher for the Quays Shopping Centre, Newry. The winning posters are currently displayed in the local shopping centre during Road Safety Week 2018 (19-25th November).
The competition was very strong with an incredible 910 entries received in total. The judges picked the top 12 entries, one of which came from our Primary 5 class here in Burrenreagh. Keira Walsh created a wonderful poster highlighting the importance of hi-visibility for all road users. On Thursday evening, Keira, her family and Miss Clarke (class teacher) attended the prize-giving ceremony in Newry. Keira has already had three newspaper photo shoots in recognition of her achievement with more to follow. We are very proud of Keira. Well done!
