Laura Presents Structural Engineering at Burrenreagh
7th Jan 2022
We thank our governor, parent and structural engineer Laura Duggan who visited Primary 6 and 7 recently to talk about a career in engineering, the importance of Science and Maths, girls in science and to conduct a fascinating workshop in structural engineering with all our pupils. Our pupils gained so much from this experience!
Below are some quotes from our pupils who benefitted from this great afternoon!
RMA: "I learnt that the mathematical shapes of triangles are stronger than squares."
OK: "I now know there are different types of engineering like mechanical, electrical, structural and chemical. "
LMC: "Mrs. Duggan told us that in engineering you get to work with different people. It is all about teamwork. "
DMD:" I really enjoyed making the 3D models."
CMA: "I learnt that studying subjects like Maths and Science are helpful if you want to study engineering. "
AF:" I learnt that engineers are very important because they build roads, houses and bridges. "
AW: "I realise how much engineers do"
KS:"Years ago, not so many girls would have done engineering. "
